Three baby falcons who hatched at the end of May were banded and named White Chocolate, Oreo and Jordan Monday morning.
Xcel Energy hosted students from the Bayfield School District at the Bay Front Power Plant, who selected the names, and experts from the Raptor Resource Project as they put trackers on the chicks. This way, the researchers can monitor the birds’ movement, survival and migration patterns.
One of the program’s feathered alumni was tracked as far as South Padre Island in Texas.
